STEPPING BACK, NOT WALKING OFF

Hey guys! Well, I've come to the conscious decision that I'm going to be stepping back from Mad For Manhattan for a while in order to find out what I truly want to get out blogging and the fashion world as a whole. I this won't mean that I will be completely gone, but I will be posting less regularly. I will continue to use my TUMBLR on a regular basis. This has been a really hard choice but I think I just need to sit back and look at things from a different perspective. Honestly, posting was becoming more a chore than a pleasure. It became something I felt obligated to do (which might seem silly because I didn't have that many followers and I'm so young, but it's the truth). I want to continue to write and stay involved in the fashion world, but I'm just not sure in what way. I also have other interests that I would like to pursue.I'll probably post this and then see someting that I must blog about because I often go back on things like this, but for now this is real. Thank you to all of the people following and supporting me, and I want to remind you again that this is not the last time I will be posting!

DEMIN PARTY

Drew Barrymore hosted the Nylon Demin + Express Party and surprisingly she didn't wear demin. She wore a thrifted dress. Yes, thrifted- not some name brand. The dress was an good choice, I must say. I've always had mix feelings about Drew, well mixed feelings about her acting, but I adore her sence of style. She takes risks and doens't always go with what's expected. I also admire her spirit, she has a every do-what-I-want attitude, yet she's seems extremely sweet and giving. She's hot stuff on the cover the Demin Issue, get it.

Oh! I'm working on Christopher Kane Resort 2011 review. I know, it's slightly out of date, but I couldn't pass up this collection. Too good :)

I was just browsing the web, looking at street style blogs (JAK AND JIL has some of the best pictures, but Tommy Ton really needs to update more) and I came across these pictures on the Sartorialist site and I just fell in love. I love that whole decade, or decades. 20s, 30s, 40s. All of those decades were so common yet so good! It was the beginning of film, good music, and amazing style. The flapper dresses, the amazing suits (guys, take lessons), and those pearls!

These pictures are recent and from a Jazz Dace Party on Governer's Island, New York. I wish I could have been there. Beautiful.

I fell in love with these Isabel Marant sneakers when I saw them on Garance Dore. I'm usually not a sneaker girl, these have a 6 cm heel on the inside! Did you notice? I didn't, I love it. I hear these pieces of foxy footwear will cost you about 400 euros ($510), so I think I'm out of luck. A girl can dream, no?

DOUBLE FEATURE: INCEPTION AND SALT

I've been talking about writing the reviews for both Inception and Salt, and I finally got around to doing it. AND I'm doing it in one post. WOOO XD

OK, Salt first: Salt was the most recent film I saw. It starred Angelina Jolie, who I'm not a big fan of, but she makes killer movies! Salt was action packed, had the thrilling plot, and nice ending. It was the total package! I guess I can't say much about this movie without ruining it (like telling who Salt really is), but the movie is full of twists and turns so you would never be able to guess. The movie also stars Liev Schreiber, who I think is a great actor. If you haven't seen Salt yet, definitely spend your $9, you won't regret it!

Inception time: Well, Inception was totally mind-blowing, just insane but in the best way! If you can't tell from the preview, the effects are awesome but used tastefully (I can't stand when people go overboard......minus Avatar....well I'm on the fence, but I loved the movie). At first glance, you might think that the film might be wayyy to hard for anyone expect the writers to understand, but it's not like that. Inception's plot is complex sure, but if you pay attention it's understandable, I promise. The film also stars one of my favorites, Leo Dicaprio. Oh how I love him (I love Baby Leo more though, Romeo + Juliet Leo, but still- amazing)! It was stars Joesph Gordon-Levitt (LOVE) and Ellen Page (She's a decent actress). Oh! and Marion Cotillard, who I just adore. So, the verdict on Incpetion is see it! I loved it.

This may be semi-out of date (like a month) , but I don't really care! The Kenzo Resort 2011 collection is mind-blowing. Just wow. It's so much different from any of the other resort collections, like the colors just explodes with flowers everywhere and it doesn't feel as business-y as the other collections. Oh! There's also swimwear :D I love it. Bravo, Kenzo Takada!

Nice title pun, right? So, the Proenza Schouler 2011 Resort Collection is ace (ace- Raez said, or typed that, and I love it)! I became a fan of Proenza Schouler once I saw Kristen Stewart wear some at the Eclipse premiere. Even though I'm not K-Stew fan, she rocked it. The resort seems businessy but with flare. Like something you would wear to out to lunch with the girls. I'm noticing that is the pattern when it comes to resort collections. Right on, Schouler!

Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor was recently featured in Exit Magazine! I think she's stunning, maybe a little wild, but stunning. Exit Magazine is UK based and new to me. From the website I really like it. It feels British Indie. Very Indie. Man, I wish we had more magazines like Exit in the US. The closet thing we have is Nylon (one of the best, don't get me wrong).

Back to Atlanta; I really think what makes this shoot for me is the styling, and I'm not a big Wildfox Couture fan. That denim one piece and those rainbow wedges are the essence of the 70s. That striped fitted romper feels....defiant. Defiant, that's the word. I like it. Almost Famous come to mind when I look at this shoot. Atlanta is fully famous in my book.

MY VINTAGE NIGHTS

When I'm not reminiscing over the collections of seasons past, I'm watching classic cartoons at 4:37 in the morning. Tonight, I've gone through Dexter's Lab (the baby of the line-up), Wacky Races, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Popeye (the oldster), and Atom Ant. Boomerang takes me back....to before my parents were conceived.

To top it off, I also watched the Alfred Hitchcock jewel, The Birds. Classic. I really want to get the Barbie modeled after the movie.

This vintage night has truly inspired me. I think I'm going to get some classic movie posters to spice up my walls, and now I want a Volkswagen Van (for real, I found one)!

I'm totally digging the Hermes A/W 2010 collection! It's so.....Sherlock Holmes. It's like bringing what a man would where in the late 1800s and transforming it into something sexy and feminine. I love the use of leather and fur (I'm on the fence about fur...). Basically, I think this collection is unbelievably chic and I would be honored to wear any of the pieces in this collection.

I can tell that she is a fan of floral when it comes to resort. The collection has a very classic feel, but it also has a lot of bright color. Overall I love it and would wear any of the pieces. I've never been a die hard Stella fan, but her resort collections always impress me. Basically, I want to have lunch, nay, marry Stella McCartney. The collection rocks my world.....like father, like daughter ;D

THE BLOGIVERSARY DOESN'T END

So, inspiration has been really low lately (isn't it always....well, I think I might be on to something new ;D) therefore I've decided to tell my readers some fun facts about myself. I guess this whole post shall be in honor of my blogiversary, which was so long ago but I'm going to ride it until the wheels fall off, hahaha!

Here it goes:

1. I live in Tennessee, a place which I'm dying to get out of.

2. Next school year I'll be a high school freshman, I'm only a little nervous.

3. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my blogging and I never like it how it is :P

4. I'm an only child and have a little pup named Bianca. She's a Yorkie.

5. I'm a movie buff (if you couldn't guess) and have rarely seen a movie I didn't like. My favorite would have to be either One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest or something Tim Burton

6. My favorite female models are Coco Rocha, Lara Stone, and Chanel Iman----My favorite male models are Josh Beech, Ash Stymest, and Luke Worrall. I've never really seen a male model I didn't like ;)

7. I'm originally from a small town in Virginia.

8. My favorite designers are Alexander Mcqueen, Karl Lagerfeld, and Marc Jacobs. I love more, but those are my best.

9. My dream is to be a photo-journalist for a major fashion magazine and to make my blog into something bigger and better.

10. My mom was the first person who told me about the September Issue of Vogue Magazine and how it is a big deal. She's responsible for quite a bit of my fashion knowledge.

11. My favorite show is Family Guy, but I also watch some reality TV (stuff on Bravo, not the trash...most of the time.)

12. Blogs I keep up with are: Cheap Thrills, Eight, Zebra and Meerkat, What I Wore, Alice in Wardrobe Wonderland, Live Glam or Die, and so many more. I should really make a blog roll.

13. I'm basically nocturnal.

14. I love baked zidi.

It's true! I'm actually doing a Fashion Spotlight again. I know I haven't been very consistant with these things, but who says a girl can't redme herself? I've just been lazy because the blog is still in transition (believe it or not) and I'm on the hunt for a new wardrobe and a new camera (I think my search for that one might be coming to a close soon :D). I'm also enjoying my summer vacation :)

So, this time around my Fashion Spotlight is none other than Miss Carrie Bradshaw a.k.a. Sarah Jessica Parker. I can't believe I've never done a post about her before. Well this Sex and the City star is full of pleasent surprises when it comes to style. You never know what she'll do next, but you know you'll love it. I love both her Carrie style, and her personal style. Sarah was recently featured of the cover of Vogue US- I have a few shots from the issue- and she looked fabulous. At the age of 45, she's got what others want!

I've been doing a lot of ranting about change, and I'm finally going to make some changes...soon. No name change, though. I'm going to make Mad For Manhattan to a new level, but first I have to get mentally prepared (...more like get a better wardrobe). My tumblr will offically become my "visual diary." Now they're will be no more ranting and raving on Mad For Manhattan. Mad For Manhattan (blogspot, not tumblr) will become my place to post my personal style....once I actually make it into something way better than what it already is. Hey, I might even get back on twitter!

I can't tell you the exact date for this changes because it comes with time, kids.

OHHHHHHHH! I almost forgot! I'm making a tumblr for my movie reviews (coming soon) :D I knew I was forgetting something. Now I just debating where I should post the latest runway looks (I've really been slacking off on that, sorry) and cool stores I find. Hmmmm? I think I'll keep those on the central Mad For Manhattan, which is this thing.

I AM IRON MAN

I saw the cinematical action treasure by the name of Iron Man 2 last Friday, and wow- it lived up to the hype! Usually I go by the motto, the sequal is never equal, but this time it completely was. It was possibly even better than the first one (view on that is still pending...)!

The movie had fewer action scenes than it's prequel, but when action did rain, it poured! Every action seen this film had a intense and kept you asking yourself what was going to happen next. The plot also had some unexpected twists that you will just have go an see for yourself ;).

So, killer action- check; thrilling plot- check; perfect intensity- check; acting-?.....AMAZING! I typically don't go to action movies for the acting, but this film really pulled through. Sure, it wasn't the best I've ever seen, however, I did love all of the actors in this movie. Scarlett Johansson's Iron Man debut was fabulous. She definitely brought an extreme amount of sexy to movie. Robert Downey Jr. never stops amazing me, and he is too dreamy. Gwyneth Paltrow brought uptight, yet lovable Pepper Potts to life brilliantly. If you've seen the first Iron Man and haven't noticed that Pepper's style is amazing (much like Gwyneth's), the take notice this time for sure. As evil and insane as he might have been in the movie, Mickey Rourke did an excellent job as the villain. Don Cheadle had a bigger role than advertised, and played the good friend of Tony Stark (Downey Jr.). Last but never ever least, Samuel L. Jackson. Even though he had a minor role in the film, he brought that special Samuel touch to the film- something only he could do.

The Iron Man 2 verdict is....see it! It's completely worth your $9, and it's a good time for the whole family, even the little ones!

VIVA LAS VEGAS: PART 2

These are the final pictures of my Las Vegas trip. I wish I could say they are of better quality but we all can't have Cannons, right? Well, while I was in Vegas I went to Madame Tussauds wax museum! At first I have to admit that I was a bit scared of the wax figures, but I got used to them. Some looked more waxy than others. Along with the wax museum pictures are more pictures of Las Vegas including all of the fabulous stores I went into. It was like Heaven!

VIVA LAS VEGAS: PART 1

Oh. My. God. Las Vegas is COMPLETELY FANTASTIC. The shopping amazing, and the people are wild! *Last night, I went down the Strip and it seemed like everywhere I turned there was a Louis Vuitton or a Gucci store staring me right in the face. It seems like every store sign glitters and shines, from the Walgreens to the Prada entrance. It's my first night here and I already got tons of pictures, hence the title VIVA LAS VEGAS: PART 1.

THE FINAL FAREWELL: ALEXANDER MCQUEEN - A/W 2010

This week Alexander McQueen (or his fashion house) premiered his final show. It was shown to a small group of journalists, lucky journalists. It was a very bittersweet moment in fashion history. It was a beautiful fashion experience, but a reminder that this is possibly the end of Alexander McQueen's line. The collection had a religious theme, angels and demons. It was just positively stunning! It was only 80% of what Alexander was going to do, the rest was done by his long time employee Sasha Barton. Any journalist who got to see this show got the show of a lifetime. Rest in Peace McQueen, we love you!

Yeah everyone, another post were I talk about the changes that I will be making to Mad For Manhattan. Well, first off I'm getting tired of typing in "madformanhattan.blogspot.com" each time I want to come and check on the blog. I think it's time for a name change. (thoughts wanted, nay, needed. Good or bad idea?) I know I do a little bit of everything now with the blog, but it's getting hard to keep up with, or for me at least. I want to narrow it down to three things; personal style, latest haute couture, and movies/art (all the same to me). I have recently been inspired by women who have made there blog more of a brand and a business. Of course, I won't sell out or conform to any one's standards, but I think it would be awesome if I could make work out of something I love doing. I wouldn't want to do that just yet, but in the near future in am most definitely looking towards that.

Jumping back to subject of name, I was thinking of calling my blog Fashimaniac. (like or dislike?). Jeez, I hope it's not already taken. Well, if it is I want something along those lines. I know, all of my blog titles have something to do with being a bit psychotic ;D.

Overall, I'm just trying to do a total blog makeover. It won't come right away. I'll be sticking with Mad For Manhattan for while, but expect some changes, if not many, in the future. Feel free to give any thoughts or opinions, I could really use them!!

EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP

So, I'm sitting here- bored at home and surfing the web- when I come across a trailer for a new movie entitled Exit Through the Gift Shop. I thought I would check it out and turns out that it is about one of my favorite street (graffiti, whatever) artists, the famously secretive Banksy. It also tells how the artist, Invader came to be, whose work I am also familiar with...and love. If you know anything about art, you know Banksy and Invader. They are the top dogs in street art and probably one of the best. Banksy was even referenced in one of my favorite books, The Calder Game. Well, the movie is a documentary told by Thierry Guetta. He's a Frenchman living in LA, and is completely fascinated by street art. Oh yeah, and the also highly private Invader is his cousin, no biggy...yeah right! The films shows no faces of neither Banksy, nor Invader. Too bad the film has limited release in the US. I'll have to watch it online.

FASHION SPOTLIGHT: CAREY MULLIGAN

When pondering what Fashion Spotlight I should do next, I went completely blank. I could think of no celebrity. While on Just Jared I saw a picture of this Academy Award nominee in LA with her gorgeous, low-key beau, Shia LaBeouf. Carey Mulligan is one of my favorite stars at the moment, and I completely mean that. She keeps such a low profile and is a sensational young actress (see An Education NOW!). Did I mention she has one of the cutest boyfriends in Hollywood? Her style is very classic and elegant, and she often dons the best Chanel has to offer. Is there anything you can't like about this Brit? Brava Carey!

THE SEQUAL IS NEVER EQUAL, KIDS

I haven't done a movie review in a while, so why not talk about Clash of the Titans. Ummmmm...good effects? Ok, the movie was just terrible plot wise. There were too many unanswered questions, and there were discrepancies concerning the actual myth. The movie was about a demi-god (half god, half human) named Perseus, whose family was killed by Hades. His father is Zeus (the main Greek god), and Perseus now hates the gods because they killed his family (even though Hades did.....). Hades tells the gods that he can make the humans pray to them again if he raises hell on earth, literally. He gives the people of Acropolis- the city that Perseus has found refuge in- an ultimatum. They can either sacrifice the princess to the gods, or Hades will RELEASE THE KRAKEN, BUM BUM BUM! I'm not going to tell the end, but I will say that Perseus,the soldiers of Acropolis, and mysterious woman named Io (I could sense the sexual tension between she and Perseus... nothing happened) go on a hunt to find things that can help them stop the Kraken without killing the princess.

Honestly, the 1981 orginal Clash of the Titans terribly stupid. I have no clue what made the producers make another one. Maybe they thought they could make it better? Well, the effects were like 20 times. If you are an effects kind of person, then go see it. If you enjoy both effects and a thrilling plot, then don't spend you $9.00. Go see Alice in Wonderland again! I really had high hopes for this movie so I was pretty mad that I spent $12.50 see it in 3D.

Today, I went to lunch with my dad, and then we went to Barnes & Noble where I picked up a what-seems-to-be good book- Heist Society- and the April issue of Nylon Magazine, featuring the positively radiant Zoe Saldana. It's also the 11th anniversey of Nylon- that I have officially declared one the best magazines in the world! I really need to subscribe; it's a lot easier than going out everyone month to buy one....lazy me.

This is just a question for my fellow blogger- How do you make the pictures you are posting bigger than the guided size without seeing all of the pixels? Is there a certain editing program you have to go through? Every time I try to enlarge the pictures by going though the "Edit HTML," I end up seeing all of the pixels. Help is needed. Well, as my fellow movie lovers know, the Oscars has come and gone. I think the majority (if not all) of my predictions were correct. I was shocked, however, that the Hurt Locker won Best Picture and Kathryn Bigelow won Best Directing. All in all, it was a good night and everyone looked stunning. DOWN WITH BLODDY BIG HEAD + CHEERS FOR ALICE

I experienced Alice in Wonderland yesterday....WOW! That has to be one of the most visually spectacular movies that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. The plot was fantastic to boot! Title Explanation: The evil Red Queen took over Wonderland and the people of the Wonderland all muttered under their breath "Down with blood Big Head!" Anyway, the acting was impeccable. Helen Bonham Carter, Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, and Anne Hathaway were all excellent. The real praise, however, should go to the master mind behind this movie, Tim Burton. His vision is what made this movie all that it was. The man can do no wrong. There are really no words to describe how much I loved this movie. I smell a 2011 Oscar! Bravo, Mr. Burton, Bravo!

NEW EDITION TO MAD FOR MANHATTAN?

Hello fellow bloggers or just frequent Internet users. Well, I have come to you with thoughts of expanding Mad For Manhattan! I really would like to start having a special section for my movie reviews. I'm thinking of getting a new Blogger layout that has tabs that takes you to each part of the site, or doing a "sister" site type thing and making a completely new blog. Even though I talk about movies on this blog, I could like to have another place to just keep movie reviews. As readers know, I absolutely love movies! I was thinking of maybe changing the name of Mad For Manhattan to something like Films and A Fashionista, it would have both fashion and movies. Maybe? I know, I often come to you with new ideas for the blog, but I really like the opinions of my readers. Comment with likes, dislikes, whatever.

So, recently my mom's friend, Denise, sent me links to Vogue Italia branches called Vogue Curvy and Vogue Black. The titles are self explanatory (one is for curvy women, the other is for African American women, like myself). I think they are only branches of the website, but I think that's so amazing that Vogue Italia is branching out and doing something new. The fashion world is sadly not as intergrated as it could be, and I think that this is a nice and refreshing.

As everyone should know the Oscars are just around the corner (11 days). I'm extremely excited! My two loves are fashion and films and I watch the Oscars every year to get a whole lot of both. I'll have some of my favorite outfits from the Red Carpet of red carpets the day after the show (if I can get around to it).

I'm going to list the nominees for Best Picture, and tell who I think will take home that priceless little gold man for each category. ( I can't list them all, that's a lot of typing but go to http://oscar.go.com/ to get more)

I really could like to see Carey Mulligan take home this one for her role in An Education, but I have feeling Sandra Bullock will take home this one for her role in the Blind Side (ugh).

Best Actress in a Supporting Role:
Mo'Nique will most likely take home the Oscar, and I am very pleased with that. She showed off that she is not only funny and goofy, but also a great actress!

Best Actor in a Leading Role:
I really want this one to go to Morgan Freeman for his role as Nelson Mandela in Invictus because well, I just love Morgan Freeman, but I think the Oscar will go to Jeff Bridges for his role in Crazy Heart. He has already taken home both the SAG and the Golden Globe.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role:
I really don't have much to say about this category, but I think the Oscar should go to Matt Damon for his good acting in Invictus.

Best Animated Film:
I'm almost sure that it's going to Up, but I'm a die hard Tim Burton fan, so I going to have to say I would love to see this one go to Coraline.

Man behind the magic

I'm getting cool vibes from Fashion Week this time around. All of the shows that I've seen have that underground feel...and I like it. I'm not there, but I can still feel it. Anyway, I was looking through show photos and I came across the Jeremy Scott collection. It's quite abstract and completely unorthodox, but it's utterly fantastic. I was introduced to Jeremy recently when I saw picture of the lovely Kelly Osbourne wearing a super cute outfit from the collection- Flinstone dress and shoes! When I saw her outfit, I thought what other cool cats (yeah, I'm using that term) are hanging out that show? Well, I found pictures of them! Everyone from Peaches to Cory was at that show. I'll have actual runway pictures in my next post, but for now just enjoy the backstage pics I scored.

For so many months I had no idea what this cobra snake hipster's name was. I recently found out that is it Atlanta, Atlanta Noo de Cadenet Taylor to be exact. She is the daughter of Duran Duran singer, John Taylor. The chic and free spirited 17 year old can often be spotted with the Cobra Snake himself, Mark Hunter. Her style is definitely one of a kind, and I totally love it. Atlanta has a great eye for prints and accessories; she's also gorgeous to add to that.

I literally shed a few tears today; I am very sad and shocked to report that fashion designer Alexander McQueen has died. He only 40 years old and at the height of his career. He was one of a favorite designers (seriously. It's Karl, Marc, Alexander) and he will certainly be missed by all of the celebrities and common people, like me, who admired his work. The British designer was known for his flamboyant styles, and dressed beauties like Sara Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, and Rhianna. When I found out this horrific news I was completely shocked. I am praying for his family and friends. Rest in peace Alexander McQueen. I am a fan forever and always.

Who's Afraid of an American Werewolf?

I tried to watch An American Werewolf in London (cult horror classic extraordinaire!), but it wasn't a success seeing as I was with Kels, and she is terribly afraid of horror movies. The movie was only 1 hr. + 30 min. and she couldn't make it. It was getting really good, and I have to admit, it was scary but I loved it! I will watch it later by myself so I don't have to hear anyone screaming for me to "Turn it off Spencer!"

Oh, I don't think I'm getting that laptop for my birthday, but I might get it later which is extremely disappointing. I'm really trying to bring my grades up, and do the best that I can at everything, but my parents want more. They seem to not understand that I have distractions and I'm not going to be perfect at everything. I think I might have to step away from the blog for a while to give them that "perfection" they seek. Basically for the next 14 weeks, I can't blog as much as I would like too. 14 weeks, and we are out of school....then my parentals are making me go an educational summer camp at Vanderbuilt University (great school and only to 2 weeks long, but still). I kind of want to go, but I would rather have fun over the summer, heck I would rather have fun now. My life is just not going so well right now, but hopefully I will have a good birthday :D 11 more days until I'm 14...I'm not too excited anymore. Enjoy the lovely picture of the yummy donuts above! Going In a New Direction

So I have been thinking about the way that my blog is going, and I really like it, but I doesn't have a hook. Every other blog that I have seen has had something special about it; they feature street style, fashion merchandise, designers, their own designs/outfits, etc., but they are consistant in what they do blog about. I, on the other hand, am not. I like blogging about a little bit of everything, and I am definitley going to keep doing that (Fashion/Photography/Designer Spotlights will stay, along with other bits of cool things I find). However, I want to gear my blog toward my interest, passion, and inspiration- street style and personal outfits. I want to know what everyone reading thinks about this idea, so what do you think? It's really important to me that I keep posting the things that people like, but I also don't want to stray away from what I love posting. Like I said, I like the way my blog is going a lot and if I am willing not to change a thing, but I would like to change it up a little and see how it works. Basically, I want to keep things fresh and new!

Skating? Inspiration- yes. I really want to get into skateboarding and I've tried and I have some skill. Of course, when I do get a skateboard of my own, I won't get one like the ones above. These skateboards are for the rich and famous (maybe I'll be there one day ;D), and they are Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. Technically they are both designed by Marc Jacobs, they just have different names. I saw them in a video on Youtube about Marc and I just loved them. Although, If I did get one of these fabulous rides, I would never use it. They are much to awesome to use!

Andy never stops watching you!

Hello everyone! Long time no post, well for me. School has been controlling most of my life, but I have been trying to stay as mellow and chill as I possibly can. It will be over in no time...hopefully. I've also been listening to a lot of Beatles and having a fierce urge to go thrifting. Vintage inspiration? Maybe. I'm also very into werewolf movies, and wolves in general- except for Twilight, UGH! I can't wait to see the Wolfman, which happens to come out on my birthday- February 12th! A Dose of Street Style

I really have nothing else to do, but blog. The weekend is so boring, and my parents are....ugh. I was thinking about things to blog about, I just went back to street style, something I love.

Oh yeah and I have news. I probably won't be able to go to the Tim Burton Expo because my mom doesn't want to take me because she wants to go to LA. I hate LA! My life is really great. Designer Spotlight: Karl Lagerfeld

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Tennessee got snow, and I have no school! It's a miracle. Sure, we got less than 1/2 inch, but I don't have to go to school. A tiny bit of snow freaks people out here, which has its advantages. Maybe I will get to hang out with my friends today, and then tomorrow is Friday ^_^ The week has gone by so fast.

I Give Up/ Love Your Baby New Year

Ok, I'm basically giving up on Twitter, so don't except anymore updates on my page. My account was hacked, and since I have changed e-mail services I cannot access my password information :/ It's very irritating! However, there is a silver lining, I'm thinking about making a Tumblr account :D The idea of having a Tumblr has always intimidated me for some reason, but I think I'll give it a go. I really don't know of any other popular social networking sites where I can give updates on when I've blogged, so your out of luck if you relied on my Twitter. That gives you another reason to follow me directly on the blog, though. I really saw no point to Twitter except for updating you about Mad For Manhattan, and sharing useless bits about my day. I guess it wasn't a total loss, but I will miss it a little. You can still visit my Twitter page to see my previous updates if you want, I'll leave the link up on the sidebar.

It's Baby New Year (if your not cultured enough to know that then...I'll just have to except you, even though I have a lack of respect for you...kidding!...no...I'm not.)

So, I'm very lame, and I didn't do anything for New Year's Eve, and I'm waiting for my parents to bring me some food from a party they went too. It's about 3 A.M. Does this give you a good view of what my life is like? I was going to make a video, but my parents took my good camera to take pictures at the party. I will make a video tomorrow! Man Behind the Magic

My Photography Spotlight this time around is the legendary Mario Testino. The Peruvian photographer has done work for many magazines such as V, Vogue (US + UK), and Vanity Fair. He makes everyone look stunning in his photos; if you can't look good in a Mario Testino photo, you just can't look good. Not only does he do magazines (of course), but has done famous ads for Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Zara, Valentino, and Versace- among others. Kate Moss along with Claudia Schiffer have been some of the models he is constantly shooting. What more can I say than, Bravo Mr. Testino!

He Made Her, He Loved Her, He Finished Her

Hey loves. Well, the title seems rather depressing, but it is only the way I perceive the relationship of Andy and Edie. Of course, Andy wasn't all bad, but he was no angel. Once he was done with you, it was over. He promised everyone their 15 minutes. I thought about this because I had a strong urge to watch.... Factory Girl! Believe it or not, it was actually one of the reasons why I started this blog. The style of that movie speaks to me in a way. I also had no clue who Edie Sedgwick was until I saw that film, and now she is one of my style inspirations (I didn't know much about Andy Warhol either). When I see the film I ask myself this stuff: Do I envy her lifestyle? In a way, yes. She was such a free spirit and had the capability to do whatever she wanted. Do I envy what her life was like? Well, they both seem like the same question, but her lifestyle was fun and exciting, her life was quite depressing and filled with sugar-coated with lies, so no. Do I envy her closet? With out a doubt yessss! Her life interests me greatly, and I hope she is resting in peace.

If anyone cares how my life is, here it goes. Well, I have been having petty arguments with friends, and I have been thinking about letting some people go. In my town, I feel like no one has the same interests as I do, and the people who I thought I would be friends with forever are drifting away. I think we all need to cut ties with people in our lives, I suppose it wouldn't hurt me that much. I think when one door closes, another one opens. There is always something else waiting just around the corner. Maybe around my corner, there will be a new friend with my passion for fashion, art, and culture. God only knows. I know one thing though, I cannot wait to get out of Tennessee. Sure, I will never forget where I came from (well actually I'm from Virginia), but I certainly don't want to be stuck here forever. My heart yearns for the city. Wish me luck getting there!

I hope everyone had one awesome New Year. I'm going into 2010 with my head held high, and the courage to try a new style and to be myself. What's everyone doing for New Years Eve?

The effects in the movie are insanely good, and the story is full of suspense. Bravo, James.

Francois Dillenger- Join the Revolt

These are some candid shots from a screening of Michael Cera's new film Youth in Revolt. The stars of the movie, Michael Cera and Portia Doubleday, were there, along with ton of miscellaneous people who happened to look incredibly cool. The movie looks hilarious, by the way. Michael Cera always makes me laugh. The movie is more Indie, and Indie comedies are always the best. The other stuff they put out now is just crap, it's all about sex. Well, Youth in Revolt has sex, but whatever. I just contradicted myself in those last sentences, I find myself doing that often, :p. Ok, enjoy the pictures loves.

Amateur Wonders on My Street

Last night, my friend Kelsey came over and the night was filled with very, very amateur photography. At around 8 at night, we decided to go outside and take a few pictures of us being "dangerous" in the middle of the street. What we got was shocking, controversial, and raw....Nahhhh! What we actually got was two crazy teenagers making the most out the a Tuesday night, we party hard...too hard :D

Nightmare Before Christmas

As I said in a post before, I am super excited about the new Tim Burton Expo at the Museum of Modern Art! Luckily, I have Spring Break during the time of the expo, so I will be able to go... if my parents are up to it. I know, I always rave about Tim, but he's amazing and completely worth my admiration, no?

My friend, Kelsey, is coming over tonight and maybe she will be up for a photo shoot. I hope so, I really need to update some more pictures of personal photo shoots :)

Hungry and Loving It

She's gorgeous

I was browsing through another blog (I honestly can't remember the name of it), and I came across a post about a book called Hungry. The book is about a model named Crystal Renn, and her struggle with an eating disorder. When Crystal was discovered, she was told that she would have to loose 10 inches off of her waste in order to be a model. After starving herself for a while, she just got sick of it and started to eat again. The 5'9'' model is now a healthy 165 pounds, and is an incredibly successful plus size model. She has been on the cover of multiple high fashion magazines (Vogue, Happer's Bazzar, etc). I think that her story is so inspirational, and it shows that you just have to be comfortable in your own skin. Being a girl, I am constantly worried about my weight, my hair, and everything else that the world sees. I think that if you are comfortable with the way you are, then everyone else will be too.

Internet Whore

Too cute

These are a few of my finds from various sites throughout the wonderland called the Internet, created my Al Gore- just kidding, I'm not stupid. However, I do love Al Gore. Anyway, during the late ours of the night I love blog...surfing, is that the right word? I don't know, but what I do know is that you can find some pretty fantastic things at 2 in the morning. So I guess that part about the hours of the night was wrong, I should have said the wee hours of the morning. Ha, wee. Your either French and sexy or Irish and....not quite as sexy when you say "wee."

I haven't been keeping you guys updated on what has been going in my "oh so exciting" life. Well, as I said in my last post, I am out for Winter Break! I honestly just want the whole school year to be over and move to Canada. Oh yeah, I have a thing for Canada now. Tennessee really sucks, and the people aren't getting any better. They aren't all bad though. I'd just rather not be in Tennessee. On another note, I am really interested in getting a bar ear piercing, it would be a change. I also really want to go thrift store shopping, I've never been except for taking trips to the Goodwill to donate. Downtown has some pretty cool shops, so I'll go there. I am going to see Avatar tomorrow, hopefully. I really hope it lives up to the 19 year hype, or I'll be slightly pissed off. Ohhh Important News!! I saw the Alice in Wonderland theartical trailer a fews days ago. Tim Burton is.... I'm speachless. He gives me the desire to go into film directing and screenplay writing. I would love to just live inside of his mind for a day. He is having an expo at the Museum of Morden Art, and I will be going for Spring Break.

This post was a lot of rambling, but I thought I'd let you know things.

The winner of my most recent poll, "Who is Your Favorite Male Model?" is Ash Stymest. No surprise there. Personally, I am starting to like Cole Mohr more and more each day. I think he has a great personality, but I also adore Luke; it's so hard to choose! Well, if the votes picked it then I guess it must be the best :D I got a rather candid of Ash for my blog.

Fashion Spotlight: Leigh Lezark

Inspiration comes and goes (it's going for me now), but music keeps me going- it can actually be my inspiration. I've been listening to "All I want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey lately; it's my favorite Christmas song. Anyway, this does have to do with my Fashion Spotlight- Leigh Lazark. The DJ and MisShapes member is very chic and her haircut is killer. I wish I could have been to a MisShapes party in New York! Leigh is pretty cool and a bit of a muse for Karl Lagerfeld- or was. I wish I could be a DJ and have a closet like her.

The color, the SHOULDERS, and the woman wearing it make this dress fabulous. On top of that I have found a new calling- design! I have great ideas that need to be put out there, and I'm going to learn to sew and make my own clothes. If only we didn't have to wear uniforms in school. Anyway, I still have a passion for writing and journalism, but I just want to try different things involving fashion.

Don't let the title fool you, I still love Paris, but people in Helsinki have some crazy (by crazy I mean awesome) street style! I was looking for new websites featuring street style and I came across Hel-Looks. It has pictures of people of all ages showing off the close they wear everyday. It's a lot like the Streethearts, but it only has looks from people Helsinki. I've picked out some of my favorite outfits from the website, but I couldn't get through all of them because there are so many. All people that love street style should visit this site!

Peaches Geldof- British hipster, Nylon Magazine favorite, and my Fashion Spotlight with a really cool name. I am completely in love with the style of the Geldof sisters! They just wear and do whatever they want and it turns out fabulous. Peaches is also frequently in Nylon Magazine (one more reason to adore her) and she is good friends with Cory Kennedy. Peaches does, goes, and wears whatever she wants.

Goodbye Daul, Hello Forks+Memories

Daul Kim was found dead in her apartment recently; the strikingly gorgeous model commited suicide acorrding to reports. Her memory lives on forever in fashion, and it's sad to think about what an amazing career she could have had. Goodbye Beautiful, you will be missed!

New Moon = New Love

I really was never a fan of Kristen Stewart (or at least I was never a mega-fan), but lately I've really been adoring her style. While on the New Moon promotional tour, she has been wear some amazing designer pieces- from Balenciaga dresses to Christian Louboutin shoes. I like her new look with the short, jet-black hair- highly edgy. I still think she lacks personality in interviews (sometimes can be funny though), but you never know what a person is like outside of the public eye. Honestly, I can't wait for New Moon to come out. I've never really been into the books, and the first movie was decent, but I'm one of those people that has to (or tries to) complete a series of movie/books/whatever.

This is the new Dazed & Confused cover for the month of December! I love it, and I love the idea. Who didn't love Where the Wild Things Are? It was one of the cutest movies of the year. Anyway I love the fact that they put Abbey Lee on the cover, not only because I think she's stunning, but because she's a girl!
